Luton Town returned to first-team training on Thursday for the first time since the historic Championship play-off final win at Wembley Stadium in May.

Striker Elijah Adebayo’s brilliant assist for Jordan Clark opened the scoring as the Hatters were promoted to the Premier League and the 25-year-old explained that he “can’t wait to get started” for the new season.

“It feels great to see everyone,” explained Adebayo. “Obviously spirits are high after what happened at the back end of last season, I had a lovely time away, but I think everyone’s excited to be back to kick-off the new campaign.

“My time off was enjoyable, I went away to a few places, we had the promotion party with the boys which everyone enjoyed and then went away to have a few more relaxing holidays. I’ve been back in England for the last couple of weeks and at the training ground as well to try and get ahead, I just can’t wait to get started now.

“I couldn’t catch Allan Campbell, I tried my best to run really fast, but he just kept on getting further and further away from me, I gave it my all!

“It’s good to see everyone, even the boys that have been out on loan doing their thing, it’s good to see everyone and we all will be trying to get into the squad.

“The pre-season games are really important to get the fitness levels right, we know we’ve got to be right at it. It’s going to be an even tougher league this year than it was last year, so it’s just about getting the most out of the pre-season games and managing it, do your extras to make sure you are topped up and hopefully everyone will be ready in August.”
