Right-back Cody Drameh became Rob Edwards' first signing last week, joining the club on loan from Leeds United for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old, who has made three appearances for Leeds United so far this season, is available to face his former loan side Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

"I like to do my talking on the pitch. I’m one that believes actions speak louder than words so hopefully I can show that on the pitch and show what I can bring to the table."

The facts

  • Birthday: 8th December 2001 (age 21)
  • Born: Dulwich, London.
  • Position: Right-back

Where it all started

London-born Drameh was at Fulham until the age of 18 in 2020. He made his debut for the Under 18 squad during the 2017-18 season and signed a two-year scholarship at the end of the campaign.

Inbetween the end of the season and his scholarship, he made his debut for the Under 23s in a 3-0 loss against Oxford United and would make a further four appearances in the EFL Trophy that season.

In total, he made over 50 appearances between the two age groups before he moved to Leeds United in August 2020 to pursue first-team opportunities.

Professional beginnings

His start to life at Elland Road began with the Under 23s whom he played for in Premier League 2. He featured on the bench in a Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion but was an unused substitute.

Drameh bided his time and in October 2021, Drameh made his professional debut for Leeds United in a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal in the EFL Cup fourth round. After impressing with his 90 minute display, five days later he was handed Premier League debut by then manager Marcelo Bielsa in a 2-1 win against Norwich City, replacing Jamie Shackleton as a second-half substitute.

He would then feature in two more Premier League matches that year, making his first league start in a home defeat against Arsenal in December.

The exciting youngster would make three appearances at Under 18 and Under 20 level for England between 2019 and 2020 where he worked with manager Rob Edwards and Assistant Richie Kyle. In November 2021, following his first-team bow for Leeds, he made his England Under 21 debut during a 3-2 defeat to Georgia.

Cardiff accolades

"I have to thank all the people that were there. They helped me to achieve that because without the team, I couldn’t really do anything, so thank you to them. Hopefully I’m willing to have the same impact here."

One month on from his first top-flight start, the highly regarded right-back joined Cardiff City for the remainder of the 2021/22 Championship campaign.

He would go on to make 22 appearances for the Bluebirds in the league, including the full 90 minutes in a home defeat against the Hatters, as they finished 18th in the Sky Bet Championship.

Despite the short amount of time he was at the Cardiff City Stadium, Drameh was presented with the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season award for his efforts, which included six clean-sheets and three assists.
