The Christmas and New Year period has been a busy one on the pitch for 10 Hatters currently out on loan!

Admiral Muskwe has been out of action since October but made his return on Boxing Day, coming off the bench during Fleetwood Town’s 2-1 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

Three days later, he came on to great effect against Barnsley, scoring from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Mads Juel Andersen.

Carlos Mendes Gomes started in both matches, whilst it was Muskwe who started on New Years Day against Shrewsbury Town.

Once more, Muskwe was on the money from 12 yards as the Cods went on to claim a 3-0 win at Montgomery Waters Meadow to move up into 13th place in League.

In League Two, John McAtee started all three games as Grimsby picked up three points over the Christmas and New Year period.

The forward assisted Harry Clifton as the Mariners went ahead against Harrogate Town on Boxing Day but couldn’t hold their lead as they lost 3-2.

McAtee was once again a provider in the following match against Salford City as he laid the ball across goal to Otis Khan to level the scoring. Aribim Pepple also came off the bench in that match, however, striker Matt Smith scored a perfect hat-trick as the away side claimed a 4-1 win.

Khan was back on the scoresheet on New Years Day as Grimsby began 2023 with a narrow victory over Stockport County.

Elsewhere in the division, Josh Neufville has continued to get regular minutes at Sutton United. Starting in a centre-forward role, the 21-year-old was part of a successful winning end to 2022, playing his part in 2-1 wins against Crawley Town and Gillingham.

Sutton won for the third match in succession against Wimbledon as they started 2023 with another 2-1 win in which Neufville featured off the bench.

Finally in the fourth tier, Dion Pereira was twice an unused substitute and not in the squad for their most recent 3-2 victory against Salford City.

In the National League South, Avan Jones made his Welling United bow on Boxing Day and helped keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win against Tonbridge Angels.

Welling went head-to-head with Tonbridge once again on the first of the month and were victorious again as Jones played back-to-back 90 minutes.

Tyrelle Newton and Cheshunt had a double-header of their own against Concord Rangers in which the young midfielder featured off the bench in the first game, and started in the following match before he was replaced in the 65th minute.

Josh Allen also made his loan debut on Boxing Day for high-flying Cray Wanderers and scored in a 3-0 victory away against Margate. Cray then repeated that scoreline against Herne Bay as Allen was a second half substitute.

Finally, fellow Development Squad forward Tobias Braney continued his impressive form at Chesham United with another goal to his name. Accelerating away from the North Leigh defence, he flashed a strike across the keeper to put the Generals two goals in front, in a match that ended in a 3-2 victory.
