Nathan Jones’ Luton Town team faced Wigan Athletic at Kenilworth Road in the Hatters’ fifth home match of the season.
Luton started the game well and had a golden chance to open the scoring. A lovely ball was played through to Elijah Adebayo and his smart shot was saved by Ben Amos and it went out for a corner.
Luke Freeman had the next big chance in the match. He took a long distance shot and forced Amos to tip it away for a corner.
The hatters finally took the lead just before half time. A corner found it’s way to James Bree who crossed it in to the box where Carlton Morris headed it into the bottom corner. This was a very deserved goal for the home side.
Allan Campbell then went on a romping run down the right wing, practically glided past the entire Wigan team and getting a corner out of the situation. The first half finished 1-0.
The second half was more even. Gabe Osho had a good chance in the second half after a corner and he cut in and curled an effort just wide of the post.
There were big penalty shouts for both teams in the space of a few minutes. Wigan had a penalty shout after Tom Lockyer put a heavy challenge in inside his own box. Cameron Jerome was also taken down in the Wigan box but the referee didn’t think anything of it.
Wigan equalised soon after. A ball in by Ryan Nyambe found Will Keane and his shot was deflected by Tom Lockyer past Ethan Horvath to level things up.
The Latics then had a winner after the ball found it’s way to Thelo Aasgaard on the left-hand side. He took a touch and curled it in to give Wigan the three points.
A disappointing loss for the hatters who are still yet to win at home this season. Luton travel to Stoke this coming weekend for another big match.
