Carlton Morris praised another ‘statement performance’ as the Hatters recorded a second win against former Premier League opposition in three days.
Luton Town continued their magnificent away form with a well-deserved victory against Norwich City, condemning the Canaries to a third defeat in a row.
It was the former Norwich man who inflicted the defeat too, with a composed finish in the second half to take his goal tally to seven in the Sky Bet Championship.
“It was a good performance," Morris said when speaking to the local press after the match. "We set out our game plan, did our due diligence before the game and we’ve executed the game plan to perfection tonight.
“They are statement performances (Queens Park Rangers and Norwich). We know what we’re capable of internally, we’re just going to get our heads down and keep working hard.
“Thankfully the lads keep producing opportunities for me and I’m getting in the right places at the moment. I’ll be working hard to make sure that continues as well because it is earning the team valuable points.”
Bamboozling the Norwich defenders with his step-overs, Morris rolled the ball calmly into the bottom corner, a move he has been rehearsing after the weekend.
“I did it at the weekend and the defender fell over but he blocked it on the floor. I was watching those clips the other day and I thought there were other ways I could have gone about that. Tonight, thankfully, it opened up a gap for me to hit the target.”
Not celebrating what proved to be the winning goal, the forward explained just how much he respects former club Norwich City.
“I spent a whole year doing rehab here and I have a close relationship with a lot of the lads here.
“I have a lot of respect for this club. In my darkest time as a footballer, when I did my ACL rehab, they had my back and that is not something you forget.”
Amongst the top scorers in the league, Morris doesn’t view his team-mates as competition and wants to create as many opportunities as he can as well.
“I don’t really think of it as much of a battle, I have three assists for him (Elijah Adebayo) already this season and I want to make that more and more each time we play together. The same with Harry Cornick, I had a chance in the first half when I rolled the defender and squared it across to H. Unfortunately it didn’t come to fruition with a good on this occasion but I want to make as many goals for my strike partners as I can.”
