Cauley Woodrow is looking to build a successful partnership with Elijah Adebayo this season with the hope of achieving something memorable during the 2022-23 campaign.

Speaking to TalkSPORT about his first impressions and familiar faces at the club after arriving a week ago, the 27-year-old said: “I know Elijah, I was at Fulham with him. He’s a few years younger than me so I knew him back at Fulham but like you say, he’s obviously done unbelievably well this year, his attributes are totally different to mine and I’m hoping we can compliment each other and thrive together. It would be nice and I know him quite well from the Fulham days so it’s easy to strike up a relationship and hopefully a partnership in the years to come.”

Whether it is a partnership up-front or operating in a position behind Adebayo, the former Barnsley man is happy to play whenever manager Nathan Jones sees fit.

“I think growing up when I was younger, I wanted to play up-front, play as a nine and be high up the pitch. Over the years I have had to adapt, I’ve played in different roles and enjoyed playing in those roles.

“It has helped my game a lot over the years, different experiences, picking the ball up in different positions so I wouldn’t say I just want to play down the middle as a nine, I’m happy to play in a ten or I’ve also played left or right at times. I’ve learned a lot playing in those positions, so I enjoy playing in all of them.

“We’d (Cauley and Nathan) obviously spoke in the summer and I could see straight away someone that I wanted to work with. He’s done so well at the club over the years and I can see what he’s about. Hopefully I’m going to enjoy playing under him.”
