Sonny Bradley has turned his focus to Tuesday’s game against Bristol City and spoke of the need to ‘regroup’ as a team after defeat at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United leapfrogged the Hatters in the Championship with a 2-0 win thanks to two quick goals in the second period, but Bradley agreed with manager Nathan Jones and focused on a largely positive week: “I think we would have taken six points from a possible nine points at the start of the week. Because of the week we’ve had, we came here today full of confidence, and I think that showed in the first half. We went toe-to-toe with them. They are a very good team, it’s tough place to come, and it just shows how important that first goal is.

“We go in at half-time in a good position and you could hear the boos ring round from their fans which was a good reflection on how we played. I don’t think they necessarily played too bad, but we were on it. However, we couldn’t get the goal, had a sloppy second half and that’s cost us the game.”

After Sheffield United’s quality prevailed on the pitch, the defender took a moment to appreciate the travelling fans, saying: “It was a fantastic effort from the fans and they continued to sing throughout the game and they clapped us off at the end, which you don’t always expect but they do appreciate it has been a tough week and we really have thrown everything at it.

“They’ll be slightly disappointed just like we are with that second half performance, but they were fantastic all game. I’m sure on Tuesday night they will fill the Kenny and help us hopefully get another win.”

The captain certainly has hopes of getting back to winning ways as soon as possible and mentioned the desire to do it under the lights at Kenilworth Road.

“Right now playing for the club, these are my favourite fixtures – to play night games at the Kenny. Hopefully we’re moving grounds soon, and there won’t be too many more so we have to embrace every night game we get now and I’m sure off the back of the Bournemouth game, I’m sure fans will be there in their numbers.

“We’re still in a really good position, it’s just about putting runs together, we have to get straight back on it now and I’m sure the squad will be used. Let’s go on another run and see how far it can take us.”
