Goals from Warren Feeney and Curtis Davies briefly took the Hatters top of the Championship after a 2-1 win against Millwall at Kenilworth Road.

Striker Feeney put Town in the ascendency after 12 minutes, drilling home from 20 yards after Jamie Vincent failed to clearly properly for the away side and was made to pay.

The Lions would fight back at the beginning of the second half, however, when Ben May levelled from close range before Mike Newell’s side rallied together and Curtis Davies hit the winner in the 78th minute after a goalmouth scramble from Kevin Nicholls’ free-kick.

Shortly afterwards, Davies would move to West Bromwich Albion for a fee of £3 million but left the Hatters in good shape in third spot.

The Town's first season back in the Championship since 1996 had started pretty well with three wins in their first five matches and that form continued for the remainder of the campaign, ending the season in 10th position.
