All at Luton Town Football Club would like to wish Andrew Shinnie the very best and thank him for his wonderful contribution to the Club’s success after his loan move to Charlton Athletic was made permanent today.

The 31-year-old, who joined the Hatters initially on loan in the summer of 2017 before signing permanently from Birmingham City a year later, has been playing his football at The Valley since mid-October.

He has since made 16 appearances in League One, scoring twice and providing four assists, and with his Kenilworth Road contract up at the end of this season, has now signed permanently for the south London club.

A serial promotion winner, Andrew quickly won a place in the fans’ hearts, earning the nickname ‘Shinniesta’ with his performances in the centre of midfield. He made 34 appearances, scoring three times, as the League Two runners-up spot was secured in his first season.

He then played a vital role in helping Town win the League One title in 2018-19, scoring four goals and assisting a further six in 41 appearances, while winning the players' player of the year award.

Last season he made 16 starts in the Sky Bet Championship, helping the Town maintain their hard-earned status, and departs with 106 appearances and ten goals to his name.

“Andrew Shinnie has been wonderful for this club,” said manager Nathan Jones when the Scottish midfielder left to start his loan on summer transfer deadline day. “He bought into everything we did and that’s what we love here.

“He needs to be remembered fondly at this club as so much has gone on and so much he done for us that you won't have seen, and that fans won’t have seen.

“So we’re really happy that he’s found a little bit of a good home, and we wish him all the best.”

Sentiments echoed again by everyone at the Club. Thank you Shins, and good luck!
