We are delighted to announce that young striker Oli Lynch has signed a new contract to progress his career with Luton Town.

The 20-year-old academy graduate has also been recalled from his loan spell at Hemel Hempstead Town, where he had netted 11 times in 18 appearances since joining the National League South side in the new year.

After an earlier loan spell at Isthmian Premier club Dulwich Hamlet, Lynch enjoyed a prolific spell at Vauxhall Road where he was voted the Tudors’ player of the month in January, as well as winning goal of the month awards in January and March.

The Hatters fan, who joined us as an Under-14, impressed as a scholar, starring in the youth team’s run to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup in 2022/23, before featuring in the inaugural Premier League Cup campaign for the Under-21s last term.

In the second half of last season he gained his first taste of senior football during a brief loan with our Southern League Premier Central neighbours Hitchin Town, before spending the first half of this term at the same Step 3 level under former Town coaches Hakan Hayrettin and Terry Harris at Dulwich.

Manager Bloomfield told lutontown.co.uk: “I’ve been really impressed with Oli since we came in. He’s trained with the first team group and never looked out of place.

“His attitude is first class and as he’s shown in his loan spell at Hemel Hempstead, he knows where the back of the net is.

“We’ve been monitoring his performances and Mick’s been to watch him several times. The progress he’s made in recent months is impressive, but we know – and most importantly he does too – that there is still a lot of work to do.

“It’s important that as a club we recognise the great work going on in our academy, and it’s credit to the coaches working with our young players that Zack Nelson and Joe Johnson have featured regularly in the first team this season.

“Like those two, Oli is still learning his trade, but we see a lot of potential in him and we are really excited about the next stage of his development.”

Academy manager Benson, the former Town striker, added: “Lynchy has a perfect profile for a modern-day number nine. He ticks all the boxes and everything you look for in a centre forward.

“He’s been developing really well during a couple of loans, and is now starting to add goals to his game.

“Like a lot of centre forwards, his development will continue as he gets older and learns the game, but he’s showing really good signs and I’m delighted that he’s committed to the club for the immediate future.”

After putting pen to paper, Lynch said: “I’m so happy to sign a new contract. To stay at such a great club, and hopefully make an impact in the future and push on and progress as a player and a person, I couldn’t be in a better place.”

Congratulations Oli!
