Kal Naismith says he wants to right the wrongs of last season’s relegation after putting pen to paper on a permanent contract.
The 33-year-old arrived on loan at the end of last season but he couldn’t prevent the Town slipping into League One.
Now, as the Hatters aim to bounce back from that disappointment, Naismith says he is determined to get the club back in the Championship.
“A week after the season, when I got rid of the disappointment and I knew I was coming back, I was like ‘I’m not finishing like that’,” said the defender.
“Ultimately, I came back last season and failed in what we set out to achieve.
“If I ever leave the club, I want to leave on a high, so I want to get the club back where it belongs and that starts first day of pre-season.
“I’m so motivated because this is a special club. I’ll be doing all I can to get as fit as possible so the fans can see the best version of me.”
Naismith revealed how wanted he felt by Matt Bloomfield – and now he’s itching to be a part of a successful side next season.
“We spoke about how last season went, we were both hurting, we were in a bad place – as you can imagine,” he said.
“We had a good chat and he said he wanted to keep me and be a part of next season. From that moment I spoke to him, he got his views across on next season and how we’re aiming to bounce back, I was like ‘I’m in, I’m all in’.
“I want to be a part of that, and after our meeting I went away smiling and couldn’t wait to get this done, and we can now look forward and positively towards next season.
“I’m going to come in and be myself, I’ll use my experience. The manager entrusted me with the armband when Carlton Morris and Jordan Clark were out, but just to put his faith in me when I was new in the club and how he’s sees me as a big part makes me want to play for this club and this manager.”
