Huge congratulations to Leighton Middle School who represented Luton Town FC Community Trust and finished runners-up at the Premier League Primary Stars National Girls Football Tournament finals at Molineux last week.
Our player Tehila topped off the day by winning the Golden Boot, scoring an impressive seven goals. The girls had the incredible chance to live a day in the life of a Premier League footballer – competing at the Premier League stadium and playing under the watchful eyes of Premier League and Women’s Super League officials.
Over 1,200 schools and 9,000 players took part in qualifiers, with just 20 schools making it to the finals.
Bert Klemmer, Luton Town FC Community Trust, Programmes Manager (Education, Employability and Learning) said: “We are immensely proud of the girls’ outstanding performance at the Premier League Primary Stars National Girls Football Tournament at Molineux.
“To reach the finals and finish as runners-up among over thousands of competing schools is a remarkable accomplishment. The girls demonstrated incredible dedication, teamwork and resilience throughout their journey to the finals, which reflects the values we hold at Luton Town.
“The tournament is part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, using the power of football and Luton Town badge to inspire 5–11-year-olds to stay active and develop essential life skills.
“Since 2017, we have been working together with schools across Luton and Bedfordshire building pupils' confidence in key National Curriculum areas, including PSHE, physical education, maths and English, offering pupils opportunities they may not receive otherwise.”
Richard Masters, Chief Executive of the Premier League, said: “Premier League Primary Stars is all about being ambitious, inspiring, connected and fair. Those traits, as well as determination and teamwork, have helped these young children to get here.
“I have no doubt that each of them are an inspiration to other children at their school and in their local community. The tournament is a great opportunity to meet other young people from clubs across the country and create memories that will last a lifetime.”
Premier League Primary Stars is the Premier League's primary school education programme. Funded by the Premier League, through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the programme uses the appeal of football to help children to be active and develop essential life skills.

The free programme also provides teachers with downloadable resources across a range of curriculum subjects at Key Stage 1 (age 5-7) and Key Stage 2 (age 7-11), developed by teachers for teachers to support children to develop skills and values that are crucial to success in later life.
