Boss on home form ahead of York clash

John Still believes there is more to come from his side as they aim to make it five successive wins against York City at Kenilworth Road this Saturday.

The Hatters haven’t tasted victory against the Minstermen in their past eight meetings, but the class of 2015/16 go into the game as the form side in League 2 with five wins from their last six matches.

However the Town have been stronger away from Kenilworth Road this season, scoring 15 goals on their travels compared to just six at home.

The boss knows that the Town need to be patient, especially on home turf, but he’s also aware of the improvement his team are starting to show.

“Yes I do,” answered the manager when asked at his Thursday press call if there was more to come from his side. “We will only get stronger.

“Will there be blips? Yes, of course there will. But the team will continue to grow and it will only get stronger as the season progresses.

“We’ve certainly got into the way of moving the ball at a good tempo. We’ve adapted our game when playing at home against teams who will make it difficult. Sometimes you’ve just got to be patient.

“That’s what pleased me about the last two home games against Mansfield and Wimbledon. We kept the ball, we kept moving it – even if it was backwards. You hope someone comes up with the right pass, or the right, cross or the right finish, and I think we’ve got the personnel to do that.

“Finding ways to win games is important. We’ve not found scoring goals difficult away from home but at home there’s a bit more expectancy on us and it’s a bit tougher.

“But patience is key.”
