Captain in line for return after birth of baby daughter

The Town are set to welcome back skipper Stephen McNulty and midfielder Matthew Robinson into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Cambridge United.

Captain McNulty missed Tuesday’s goalless draw with York to be beside his girlfriend, who gave birth to a girl, Lilia, on Wednesday evening. The defender is due to report for training on Friday.

Robinson, meanwhile, missed the last three matches through suspension following his red card at Shrewsbury on 30th August.

Boss John Still is also hopeful to have Curtley Williams available after the defender picked up a knock in Tuesday’s game, but Jake Howells is a doubt after picking up a nasty foot injury at Bootham Crescent.

Striker Paul Benson is in light training in his bid to return to fitness, whilst Shaun Whalley and Andy Parry were both involved in training on Thursday.

However Alex Lawless remains definitely out of contention as he continues to nurse an aggravated hamstring injury, as is defender Fraser Franks who is recovering from a hernia operation.
