Luke Rooney departs Kenilworth Road

The Hatters and Luke Rooney have mutually agreed the cancellation of the midfielder’s contract at Kenilworth Road.

The 24-year-old, who originally signed for the Town last season, scored five goals in 13 appearances for the Town this term.

Rooney’s time with the Hatters has been affected by injuries and his last appearance in Luton colours came in the 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury on 8th January.

Town boss John Still told lutontown.co.uk: “Luke hasn’t featured so much recently after coming back to fitness following a hernia operation, so with that in mind we came to a decision to allow him to pursue a club elsewhere.

“Luke did a good job for us, especially early in the season, which helped us pick up form on our return to the Football League – and for that we are grateful. I wish him all the best of luck.”

In total Rooney made 19 appearances during his time at Kenilworth Road and scored five times.

Everyone at Luton Town would like to wish him Luke all the very best in his future career.
