Town youngsters ease to comfortable victory

The Hatters Under-18s continued their unbeaten start to the season as a 4-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge made it eight wins in nine matches in all competitions.

Two goals in each half did the damage against the Daggers as Paul Driver’s side eased to a fourth straight win.

The Town took the lead in the 22nd minute when Kavan Cotter’s shot rebounded off the crossbar and George Murray tucked home the rebound.

Three minute later it was 2-0 when Cameron McJannet’s left-wing cross was headed home by Tyreeq Bakinson.

Two goals to the good the break, it was almost 3-0 shortly after the restart when Cotter saw a shot rattle the woodwork.

But the Hatters did score their third goal on 69 minutes when Bakinson drilled a shot from outside the box that flew past the Dagenham goalkeeper.

Three minutes later three became four when Cotter pounced on a loose ball in the six-yard box to finish neatly for his fifth goal in as many games.

Bakinson came close to sealing his hat-trick when firing another shot from distance but it ended 4-0.

A delighted Driver told lutontown.co.uk: “It was a comfortable performance, from the first minute to the last.

“However we need to learn to play to the same intensity, standards and decision-making when we are in control of games when you are not in a comfortable position.”

Town: King, Bean (sub McGhan-George 67), McJannet, Musonda, Famewo; Justin, Cotter, Bakinson, Atkinson (sub Snelus 71); Murray (sub Hinds 69), Verney. Sub not used: Jones.
