Doyle wins main award, while Jonathan Smith scoops three

Nathan Doyle has been named the Luton Town player of the season, as voted for by members of Luton Town Supporters’ Club and Trust in Luton.

The midfielder, who joined the Hatters in September, has been in fine form in the centre of the park since his arrival at Kenilworth Road.

Doyle was presented his award at the annual awards night at Luton Rugby Club on Sunday.

However, it was Doyle’s midfield teammate Jonathan Smith who was the big winner on the night as he walked away with three awards.

Smith was named as players’ player of the year by his fellow teammates and was the pick of young members of the supporters’ club. Smith pipped Doyle to win the website player of the year award – as voted by readers of lutontown.co.uk – by just one vote.

Youth team graduate Luke Trotman, who penned a professional deal with the Hatters earlier this season, was named the young player of the season as voted by the Town’s coaching staff.

Alex Lawless’ strike against Southend back in October was voted the Hatters’ goal of the season, while the Ian Pearce memorial trophy will be shared between Mark Cullen and Luke Guttridge after both won three man-of-the-match awards at home games this season.

And last and by no means least, Town supporter Nigel Martin was presented with the Trust in Luton outstanding contribution to Luton Town award.

Congratulations to all the winners.
