A Reading youth product, the 21-year-old – who can operate at right back and in midfield – played six times for the Royals in the Championship.

Between 2015 and 2017, he had three loan spells, with Barnet, Carlisle United and Exeter City, but really found his feet with the Grecians last term.

A full season at St James Park saw him flourish as he made 38 appearances as well as scoring a fantastic late winner in Paul Tisdale's side's 6-5 aggregate win over the Cumbrians in the League Two play-off semi-final.

He then started in the Wembley final, which they lost 2-1 to Blackpool.

Joined the Hatters on a two-year contract after Town agreed terms with the Madejski Stadium outfit.

Stacey opened his goalscoring account with the Hatters in mid-September, with an emphatic effort in the 2-0 home win over Port Vale.
