On Thursday 9th May, Luton Town Community Trust were delighted to host a Mental Health Workshop in Collaboration with CHUMS.

The workshop was open to the sixth form students at Queen Elizabeth High School as a part of the Premier League's Inside Matters Campaign. This initiative aims to encourage football fans to check in on each other and kick off a conversation on mental health.

During the workshop, CHUMS, who are a local mental health and emotional wellbeing service, emphasised the importance of self-care and how to access the appropriate tools and services to help combat any concerns the students may have.

The students were also lucky enough to have a surprise appearance from Luton Town's James Shea, who shared insights into how football has aided his own mental health journey. James also took part in a Q&A where students could ask questions and seek advice on challenges they may have.

Annette Cooper, Service Manager for CHUMS, said: "I's important to get young people talking about mental health so they become comfortable being open and honest about how they feel and about any difficulties they are facing. Not talking about it can often add to the problems, making people feel alone and creating a sense of stigma around having struggles. By having conversations about mental health, you can make others aware of how you are genuinely and what you need, which gives people a chance to support you appropriately."
