Similar squad expected to face Villa

The Town have a number of injury doubts for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Aston Villa at Kenilworth Road.

Hatters manager Rob Edwards says Elijah Adebayo, Sambi Lokonga and Gabe Osho will all be unavailable for the visit of fourth-placed Villa.

Furthermore the Town will give Amari’i Bell as much time as possible after the defender came off in the first half of Tuesday’s FA Cup tie against Manchester City with a slight hamstring issue.

His replacement on the night, Joe Johnson, will not be in contention to start as the 18-year-old as been ill for the past three days and hasn’t trained.

The Town do welcome back one player into the fold in the shape of Issa Kaboré, who returns after being ineligible to face his parent club in the cup in the week.

“It’s a longer list than I’d like, but it’s an opportunity for other people to come in,” Edwards said. “I’m confident we can go into the game with a strong team, though.

“So we’re looking at a similar squad that we used in midweek against City.”

Dan Potts has joined long-term absentees Jacob Brown, Tom Lockyer, Marvelous Nakamba and Mads Andersen after picking up a nasty hamstring injury in training.

On facing Villa, one of his former clubs, Edwards said: “All over the pitch they have top players, but that’s what we wanted when we won promotion.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s a clear game for us and it’ll be different to the City and Liverpool games where there was lots of chaos.

“It’s not a must win but we know it’s an important game.”
