Billy Kellock, Rest in Peace

7th February 1954 – 20th March 2024

News has reached Kenilworth Road of the passing of Billy Kellock who was signed by David Pleat to boost the Town’s midfield as they were promoted to the top flight in 1982.

Born in Glasgow, Billy failed to make the grade at Aston Villa and moved to Cardiff in 1972 where he made his League debut for the Bluebirds as an 18-year-old.

Short stays at Norwich and Millwall followed before he dropped out of the league to join Kettering Town.

At Kettering, Billy fulfilled his potential as an aggressive goalscoring midfielder and he continued to shine at Peterborough where he banged in 43 goals in 134 League starts.

David Pleat paid £30,000 for the talented Billy in July 1982 just as the Hatters were about to enter the top-flight but his stay was short and he made only nine starts, scoring two goals, before moving to Wolves the following March.

He helped Wolves to promotion before dropping back down the divisions, turning out for Southend, Port Vale and Halifax, and finished back at Kettering where he managed a Country Club.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
