Bobbers development project scoops innovation award

The building project which saw us meet Premier League criteria and change the face of Kenilworth Road as we know it was recently honoured at the prestigious Football Business Awards.

The rebuilding of the Bobbers Stand took home the Innovation Award at the annual awards dinner, where it beat off competition in the category from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Brighton and the German Football League.

Having completed building work just 13 weeks after the final penalty was kicked in the play-off final, the project impressed the judges by the speed in which the Club delivered the Bobbers on time and on budget in one of the most confined spaces in UK football stadia.

Town CEO Gary Sweet said: “The project to ensure Kenilworth Road met the myriad of Premier League criteria was a Herculean task pressured by the stringent regulatory criteria we had to meet while complying with building control regulations and all be completed in a ridiculously tight schedule and in such a confined space.

“Everyone involved had to shed blood, sweat and tears, going above and beyond all expectations to dexterously construct a mini masterpiece and in optimal contrast and harmony with our somewhat more vintage structure.

“It is my duty and pleasure to once again thank all of the numerous contractors involved including Capital Sky, AND, Faithful & Gould, ESG Global, Momentum Engineering, Civic Engineers, FPM Facilities Services, TTL, Focus Rigging, Musco, Factotum, White Horse Contractors, Arena Stadium Solutions, Switchshop, Ryebridge, OMM, Cristec and not ignoring the numerous smaller suppliers who all did us proud. Thank you one and all.”

Michael Moran, chief operating officer of 2020 developments, added: “It proves the impossible can happen. The project was against the odds in order to complete it in time – always believe!”
