We are delighted to announce that Jordan Clark has committed his long-term future to Luton Town by signing a contract extension at Kenilworth Road.

The 29-year-old became the Hatters’ first summer signing of the 2020/21 season, moving south to Kenilworth Road on a free transfer from League One side Accrington Stanley.

The ex-Barnsley and Shrewsbury Town midfielder made his competitive debut for the club in a 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Norwich City in September 2020, and 10 days later he scored his first goal – a winner against Reading in the second round of the competition.

Clark scored for the second match in succession in the Championship just days later, heading home an 87th minute winner against Derby County.

He would go on to make 39 appearances that season, adding a third goal in another competition in the FA Cup fourth round defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Last season he netted twice in 28 appearances as the Hatters reached the Championship play-offs, while this term he has been in wonderful form, scoring three times in 36 games and recently completing a century of appearances in a Luton shirt.

The man known as ‘Clicker’ also captained the club for the first time in the FA Cup third round replay win at Wigan, and after putting pen to paper, he said: “It’s been an upward trajectory for the club and for myself since I signed.

“I didn’t start off playing amazingly, but I believe I’ve grown in the years that I’ve been here, the confidence has come and now, with the new deal, it’s all about timing.

“Why go anywhere else when I really love this club and I can see it improving all the time? The people who work here are just top people, they can’t do enough for you to make everything easier for you and give you the best to make you play your best on a matchday.

“My partner, Chelsea, and my little boy, George, are all settled down here now, and that is obviously a massive thing.

“But I just love being here. I love playing in front of the fans and the big thing for me is this squad, these lads. If we can keep everyone together, because fingers crossed this is going to be a really exciting end to the season, who knows what’s going to happen?

“That’s the best thing about football. We don’t fear anyone and we are just excited. The feel-good factor is there. We are in a real good place and the lads are relishing every game that comes.”

Manager Rob Edwards was equally delighted to have the Yorkshireman on board and part of his long-term plans for the future.

“Jordan’s been in brilliant form recently and since we’ve come in, I’ve been delighted with how he’s been around the place,” said Edwards. “I know I say this about everyone, but he is a brilliant lad, and his performances have been top notch.

"Everyone will see the lovely touches that he has, the little flicks and bits of skill, and we want that to continue. But his work-rate, his endeavour and his honesty are so valuable, plus he’s scored a couple of really important goals and we want him to continue to be more of a goal threat, because we’ve seen that he’s got it in him.

“His all-round play has been brilliant and for us to get him to sign him a longer contract shows the ambition of the club. I think it’s really important to keep our best players around, because I genuinely believe that Clicker could play for anyone.

“He’s shown that he’s a top player at this level and we are really lucky to have him at the football club.”
