The victory puts Wales in a very strong position to qualify for the last 16 after their point against Switzerland last Saturday and heading into Sunday’s final group fixture versus Italy.

Rob Page’s side had plenty of early dominance but failed to take their chances initially, as Turkey came back into the game and created a flurry of opportunities.

Morrell was in the thick of the action as he rescued his side not once, but twice in quick succession. He was in the right place at the right time from two corners to clear off the line and keep the home side at bay.

Before half-time, his efforts in helping reserve their clean-sheet paid off as Gareth Bale chipped the ball over to Aaron Ramsey, who after missing two good earlier chances, made no mistake on the third occasion.

Bale could have doubled Wales’ lead in the 61st minute from the penalty spot but fluffed his lines from 12-yards.

Though fortunately, the miss did not come back to haunt Bale or Wales as they held their nerve at the Olympic Stadium and scored a second in the dying embers through Connor Roberts.
