Luton Town have today recalled Akin Famewo from his loan at Grimsby Town and have subsequently agreed an undisclosed fee for Norwich City to sign the defender.
The 20-year-old has completed a medical at Carrow Road and joins the Sky Bet Championship high-flyers on a permanent transfer.
Famewo came through the Hatters’ academy and signed his first professional contract in July 2016. He made his senior debut as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Newport County the following month, with his first start coming at Gillingham in the Checkatrade Trophy soon after.
He departs Kenilworth Road having made 14 senior appearances for the Hatters, predominantly in the Trophy but also including two starts in League Two – one in each of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns.
This term he has made 12 appearances in all competitions at that level for the Mariners, and leaves the Hatters with the club’s best wishes for his future career.
