YOUNG POETS 'DO THE WRITE THING' FOR INDIGO COMPETITION

23 October 2018

Sponsored by

Congratulations to Zara-Jess, Rebecca & Thomas of Chantry Primary School and Alicja from Tennyson Road School who were named winners of the Indigo Residential 'Do the Write Thing' competition on Saturday.

Children from Luton primary schools were set the task to share their passion for the Club, writing poems about what it means to be a young supporter, and the results were absolutely fantastic.

The winners will all be treated to tickets to watch our match against Plymouth from an executive box courtesy of those generous gents at Indigo Residential. Our congratulations to everyone that entered for coming up with some simply brilliant poems.

Here are the winning entries:

The Luton I Love
By Zara-Jess, Rebecca & Thomas of Chantry Primary School

The roar of the crowd, the Oak, the Kenny,
A love for the Hatters, shared by the many,
Proud Nathan Jones brings the team out each week,
Playing their hearts out for the wins that they seek.

This is the Luton I Love

Eleven true heroes dressed in orange or white
Glen Rea or Sheehan, leading the fight,
They've conquered non-league and defeated League Two
Now comes League One, how will they do?

This is the Luton I Love

There's Pelly with brawn, the strength and the muscle,
Ready for the fight, ready for a tussle,
And James Shea in goal? He's simply immense
His saves are unreal; he the last line of defence

This is the Luton I Love

Up and down the country, the mighty Hatters go
Loyal to their team, come rain, come sun, come snow,
Accrington or Barnsley, Charlton or the Dons,
Luton Fans are always there, belting out their songs

("Nathan Jones' Barmy Army, Nathan Jones' Barmy Army")

This is the Luton I Love

Watching Hylton on the ball is always pretty sweet,
Defenders are no problem, he's always got them beat,
And number 2 James Justin, proud to call him our own,
A Luton lad forever, an amazing talent homegrown.

This is the Luton I Love

So if you ever decide you need a weekend treat,
Make your way down to Luton Town to watch the team compete.
With the mighty Welshman at the helm, one thing is for sure,
He'll take the team to places new where they haven't been before.

Luton Town!
By Alicja

1988 we were at our best,
We have finally completed our test.
Defeating Arsenal was our dream,
A real success for all of our team.

Our home ground is on Kenilworth Road,
This mighty fortress is our humble abode.
We show some real skill with our feet,
Bu we never miss a single beat.

Fabulous fans from far and wide,
They support our team with love and pride.
Our well known nickname is the Hatters,
Respect and fun is what really matters.
