MATCH PREVIEW: LUTON TOWN V CRAWLEY TOWN

13 February 2018

The Hatters will look to extend their unbeaten run in February to three games as they welcome Crawley Town to Kenilworth Road in Sky Bet League Two tonight.

A win over Exeter City before Saturday's draw at Stevenage has seen Nathan Jones' side maintain their position at the top of the fourth tier so far this month.
Tonight provides the Hatters with another opportunity to go for their 20th league win of the campaign – a feat that took the whole of last season to achieve.

It'll prove a tough task though – as the Red Devils have picked up two more points than any other side in their last ten games. With eight wins in that run, and four on the bounce heading into tonight, it's fair to say had Crawley matched this form at the beginning of the campaign they would have been challenging for the top positions in the division. However, they currently find themselves just four points off the play-offs, sat in tenth position.

THE GAFFER SAYS:

On the injury problems that have had an impact on his squad in recent weeks: "What I haven't harped on about – which I've mentioned in the last two interviews I've done – we've had some massive players out.

"Some players that would get in near enough every team in this league, big players, focal point players for us. We haven't harped on about that, we've just got on with our job, carried on getting results, and this break will be an important one for us.

"It sees us finish the month with Cheltenham, but hopefully we'll get five players back and a few minutes into them. So by the time Cheltenham comes round, we should have a fully fit squad and one that's ready to finish the season well. That's going to be the important thing."

On who he will play in the place of the suspended Dan Potts: "There's lots we can do. We have the options available of James Justin, who is the natural one to come in. Jack Senior is in great form and I've not allowed him to go out on loan for these moments, but with the others available – we can move Alan Sheehan so we've got other options there. It's a miss, Dan Potts, because he's important to us, but it just gives someone else an opportunity."

WHO?

After a slow start under first-time manager Harry Kewell, the Red Devils looked set for a relegation scrap and Kewell finding himself under a bit of early pressure. However, players returning from injury and the former Australia international getting his message across has seen the Checkatrade Stadium outfit go on a tremendous run – which if they maintain, could see them finish in a play-off place, or even higher.

Seven defeats in their opening 11 league games didn't bode well, but with their excellent run continued at the weekend with a resounding 3-0 victory over Grimsby Town, they certainly pose the Hatters a real threat.
