The Hatters fell to a 1-0 defeat at Sixfields Stadium
First team coach Joaquin Gomez felt that overall the development squad that involved a number of first teamers gave a positive performance in their 1-0 defeat to Northampton Town.
Paul Anderson’s tap in from six yards after 42 minutes from Emmanuel Sonupe’s effort that hit the post was the only goal of the game, as the Hatters put in a strong second half showing after a slow opening 45.
Gomez said: “It was a game where both teams had a few pros playing, we wanted to put the ones who needed a few minutes, to get back into it.
“We suffered a little bit in the first half, we didn’t really get into our game in the first half, but in the second half we passed a lot more and they didn’t really have any chances.

“We had a few chances, but we couldn’t get the goal to get back into the game. We tried a few players in different positions, a few of the younger ones and yes, it was positive."
Jack Marriott saw a couple of chances go begging in the first half, before he very nearly connected with a cross inside the area to bring the game level.
“In the first half we couldn’t get the pressure we wanted high up the pitch and they got quite a bit of the possession,” the first team coach continued.
“In the second half the effort levels were a lot higher and we pushed higher up the pitch and we had a lot more of the ball and we had a few chances.”
“Overall it was a positive performance, they got a lot better after half-time.”
