Team of hat makers return to show off their Boaters
You may remember back in February 2016, we hosted an exhibition from the 'Home Ground Project'. The project was run by the Devon Guild of Craftsmen, shining a spotlight on Football Clubs with strong links to traditional crafts.Luton Town were an obvious choice, thanks to the historical link to the Hat trade, along with Walsall, Sheffield Utd, Stoke City, Macclesfield Town and Crystal Palace.
Following on from the exhibition, a group of budding milliners took part in a series of workshops to learn how to make their own straw boaters, under the supervision of locally based hat-maker Valerie Corona.
Today, for our match against Cambridge United we welcome the participants back, who will be showing off their creations as they make their way around the pitch at half time.
If you would like to see the hats up-close, they will be on show at the Hat Factory in Bute Street until February 3rd.
We would like to extend our thanks to Patricia Dixon, and the Home Ground team for including Luton Town in this fascinating project, reminding us all of the proud links of the Town and Club to the hat trade.
