The Hatters take on the Blues for a place in the final

Town academy boss Andy Awford is setting his sights on reaching the final of the Bedfordshire FA Senior Cup Final when the Hatters take on Dunstable Town tomorrow night.

The development squad have beaten Barton Rovers and Stotfold to reach this stage of the competition and now face Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division side Dunstable in the semi-final at Creasey Park.

The fixtures have proved to be an excellent challenge so far for the young Hatters to test themselves against strong Non-League sides, and now face the highest ranked side left in the competition.

Awford said: “We have got this far, so we’d like to go on and progress to the final and win the competition.

“We went into the competition with the mentality that we wanted to win it, so tomorrow night we will have a right good go.

“It’ll be a tough match as once again we are taking a young looking side to take on a men’s team, which I am sure will prove to be an excellent test for our lads.”

The former Portsmouth boss is expecting it to be a more difficult affair to the previous two fixtures, as the Blues occupy a midtable position in the third step of Non-League football.

“Just logically it will be more difficult,” Awford continued. “We are under no illusions as to how good they are and our lads will need to be at their best if they want to reach the final of this competition.

“The fact that they are from a higher division than our previous opposition is a factor and we are expecting it to be an interesting match.

“We really hope that plenty of Hatters will be there cheering us on. It has really helped us in the previous rounds.”

Make sure you head to Creasey Park tomorrow for the Development squad’s semi-final, with tickets priced at:

Adults: £10
Concessions: £5

The other semi-final will be contested by Kempston Rovers and AFC Dunstable, which was postponed yesterday due to a waterlogged pitch and will now be played on Tuesday 21st February.
