Luton Town have agreed undisclosed terms with Sky Bet Championship club Birmingham City for the transfer of striker Isaac Vassell.

The 23-year-old Cornishman, who the Hatters plucked from National League South side Truro City just over a year ago, has passed a medical and will move to St Andrew’s with immediate effect.

The ex-Plymouth Argyle youngster was working as a labourer before the Town offered him a one-year deal at the end of July 2016 following a successful pre-season trial.

Under the guidance of manager Nathan Jones, his staff and chief recruitment officer Mick Harford, who had watched the forward regularly in part-time football, Vassell’s development gathered pace.

After netting his first goal for the club at Morecambe last November, he signed a contract extension to the summer of 2018 just before Christmas, and went onto finish the 2016-17 campaign with 14 to his name.

The two he netted against Yeovil last Saturday means he leaves Kenilworth Road with 16 goals in 32 starts and 23 substitute appearances in all competitions, and with the best wishes for his future career from all at the club.
