Former Oxford skipper pens a two-year deal

We are excited to announce that former Oxford United Captain Johnny Mullins has signed a two year deal with the Hatters.

Mullins was a key player in last season’s promotion winning side for Oxford where he played a total of 116 times for since signing for them in 2013. Mullins had also previously captained Rotherham to promotion in 2013.

Talking to lutontown.co.uk, Mullins said “I’m over the moon to be here. When a Club like Luton gave me a call, it was a no brainer – I wanted to join. I’m here to achieve promotion, and hopefully to play in League 1 with Luton.”

Asked about his playing style Mullins said “I’m a centre half, I like to play out when I can but it’s defence first with me. I’ve come here to get promoted and to play in front of some top-drawer fans.

I’m chuffed to bits to be signing for Luton, and hopefully come the end of the season we’ll all be smiling” he added.

The thirty year old defender was recently released by Oxford and Manager Nathan Jones wasted no time in offering him a chance at Luton.

“I’m delighted that Johnny has joined us, he has experience of achieving promotion from League Two with both Oxford United last season and Rotherham United previously, during which he captained both clubs.” Jones said.

“Johnny is exactly the type of player and character I want at our club, he is a real leader and will be a big influence within our dressing room. The signing of Johnny massively improves our squad, he is a winner and he wants to continue to improve and get better here at Luton Town.”
