Hatters boss reflects on victory over his old club

Hatters manager Nathan Jones spoke to lutontown.co.uk immediately after today’s 2-1 win over his former club Brighton & Hove Albion at Kenilworth Road.

The Town boss said: “I’m very pleased with the workout. We knew the test they’d give us today. I know all about the club and it was a strong squad they brought here.

“We started at a good tempo, we maintained that and we’ve come through injury-free, which is the main thing.”

Jack Marriott hit both Town goals this afternoon, the first after 25 seconds.

“Sometimes when you get opportunities you’ve got to take them, because that’s being clinical,” said Jones. “That’s what Jack is. That’s why we’ve tied him down to a long contract because we believe Jack will give us that.

“We’ve got good firepower with Danny Hylton, who got in some great areas, and Pelly-Ruddock and Cameron McGeehan.

“We’re not getting carried away though, just as we didn’t with the Boreham Wood result.”
