Game with Hungarian side Paksi ends goalless

Luton Town’s preparations for the 2016-17 campaign began in earnest today with the first match action of the pre-season programme coming at the end of a week-long training camp in Hungary.

Nathan Jones’ Hatters played out a goalless draw with local outfit Paksi FC, who finished seventh in the Hungarian top-flight last term, at the Globall Football Park and SportHotel.

The Town starting line-up featured Christian Walton in goal for the Hatters for the first time since making his season-long loan switch from Brighton, although he was replaced at half-time by teenager Craig King.

Fellow new permanent signings Alan Sheehan, at centre-half, and Glen Rea, in the midfield holding role, started the game, as did Danny Hylton up front.

The other new signing to make an appearance in the second half was Hylton’s former Oxford team-mate Johnny Mullins at centre-half, while forward Jordan Cook – who joined the squad in Telki, near Budapest, on Monday after agreeing a two-year deal following his departure from Walsall – watched on from the sidelines.

The starting line-up was: Walton, O’Donnell, Musonda, Sheehan, Famewo, Rea, Bakinson, Ruddock Mpanzu, Atkinson, Marriott, Hylton.

Jones changed the team around drastically at half-time, giving 20 players a run-out in total.

The second half line-up was: King, Justin, Musonda, Mullins, Potts, Lee, Atkinson, Smith, McGeehan, Banton, McQuoid.
