Much-changed Hatters lose to Boro

A Town Under-18s side consisting entirely of under-16s went down 1-0 against Stevenage in the Youth Alliance on Saturday morning.

Hatters youth team boss Paul Driver rested his whole group of full-time scholars for the game at Creasey Park ahead of Wednesday’s FA Youth Cup tie at Oldham.

The Town had the better of possession and chances but couldn’t convert them and Boro took advantage with a goal on the counter-attack mid-way through the second half.

Driver told lutontown.co.uk: “The difference between our boys today and our regular side was the finishing in front of goal.

“We saw the better of the ball and created more opportunities but couldn’t take them.

“However, we played some good football and I was really pleased. It was great to see them playing under pressure in a league game at a time where decisions on their futures need to be made.”

Town: Gordon-Stern, Mead, James, Taylor, Lee, Jones, Peck, Read, Shamola (sub Neufeille 55), Belgrove (sub Enoben 65), Sorunke. Subs not used: Lafleur, Burton, Kateley.
