Congratulations to our Men's Disability team!
Hot on the heels of our Under-18 youth team success we have another proud team of cup winners at the Club as our Men’s Disability team lifted the FA People’s Cup in a competition hosted by Bedfordshire FA at Skimpot Lane in Dunstable on Friday afternoon.
The FA People’s Cup is a joint initiative between the BBC Get Inspired project and The FA for all categories of the game and today our Hatters disability team competed with teams from all over Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire to finish outright winners.
It finished up as an all-Luton final with both the Hatters and Boaters teams contesting the Cup with the Hatters coming out on top.
The players are putting their victory down to super keeper Nicky Toone (pictured below) who was sporting Mark Tyler’s first team match shirt. Nicky is an avid Town season ticket holder and when Mark heard of his goalkeeping exploits, he was happy to donate his shirt for Nicky to wear. Looks like it did the trick Mark!
The whole event was captured by local BBC TV cameras and action and interviews are due to be broadcast on local news programmes on Friday night so keep an eye out for our very proud players who wear the shirt with such pride. We’re sure the team will also be showing off their cup down the Kenny very soon!
Our Community Trust, who run the teams are always happy to welcome new players into the squads and they train with our coaches every Friday morning during the winter at Dunstable Leisure Centre from 10.30am. If you know of anyone who might want to get involved then please ring the community office on 01582 737568 or send an email to email@example.com.
