Under-18s player profiles
GOALKEEPER
CIAREN GORDON-STEARN – The goalkeeper from Walthamstow is in the first year of his scholarship. He signed in December 2015 after a successful trial having been at Ipswich from Under-14s to Under-16s.
DEFENDERS
JACK JAMES – The full-back from Upper Caldecote near Biggleswade is in the first year of his scholarship. He has an excellent work rate to get up and down the pitch. Joined the club at Under-14s level.
JOE MEAD – Mead is a versatile defender from Luton and is in the first year of his scholarship. Can play at full-back or in central defence and has been with the club since he was an Under-8.
CIAREN JONES – Central defender from Luton in the first year of his scholarship. He joined the Hatters Under-12s having previously been with Brentford.
HARRY BEAN – The defender from Biggleswade is in the second year of his scholarship and can play at full-back or in the centre of defence. He joined the club as an Under-8.
AKIN FAMEWO – Powerful central defender from Beeston, near Sandy in Bedfordshire, who gained his first pro contract at the start of this season and made his first senior start at Gillingham in the EFL Trophy. Joined the club as an Under-11.
MIDFIELDERS
KITAN SORUNKE – Sorunke is a good ball playing midfield from Luton in the first year of his scholarship. He can play in the centre of the park or out wide, but has done very well so far this season as a defensive midfielder. Joined the club as an Under-10.
KAVAN COTTER - Strong, hard-working midfield player from Hemel Hempstead in the second year of his scholarship. To show his flexibility, he made his full debut as a full-back in the EFL Trophy at Gillingham. Joined the club as an Under-13 having previously been at Arsenal and QPR.
TYREEQ BAKINSON – Ball-playing central midfield player from Luton who gained his pro contract at the end of the first year of his scholarship, and made his full debut at Gillingham in the EFL Trophy in August. Joined the club at Under-10 level.
ARTHUR READ – Skilful, tricky midfield player from Leighton Buzzard in the first year of his scholarship who is comfortable playing on either side of midfield or off the front. Joined the club at Under-9s level.
JACK SNELUS – Clever, attacking midfield player from Milton Keynes in the second year of his scholarship. He joined the club as an Under-8.
GEORGE MURRAY - Versatile midfielder/striker from Ampthill in the second year of his scholarship. He can play anywhere in the front six and had been with the club since Under-8 level.
STRIKERS
SCOTT BELGROVE - Hard working, aggressive striker from Milton Keynes in the first year of his scholarship. Joined the Academy as an Under-14, having previously trained with the pre-Academy squads.
GEO CRAIG – Strong powerful striker from Barnet who had his scholarship extended by a year due to a serious knee injury at the start of his second year. Joined the club as an Under-15 from Wycombe Wanderers.
FREDDIE HINDS – Quick, skilful striker from Potton, near Sandy. He is in the second year of his scholarship having finished his first year as top scorer. Joined the club as an Under-8.
MICHAEL SHAMALO – Big, skilful striker from Luton in the first year of his scholarship. He can play as a striker or as a No.10 and joined the club as an Under-9.
JAMES VERNEY – Lightning quick striker from Tring who is in the second year of his scholarship. Joined the Academy group as an Under-16 having previously trained with the pre-Academy squads.
MANAGER
PAUL DRIVER – Youth Team coach Paul joined the Hatters in June 2011. He previously held the position of youth team coach and assistant manager at Rushden & Diamonds.
