New campaign begins with street cleaning initiative
Love Luton has today launched "Open Your Eyes" which will run for 2016. The first event will coincide with the Clean for the Queen initiative, which is taking place on Friday 4th March and Saturday 5th March where local people are encouraged to come forward and volunteer some time to help pick up litter in Luton.
Linsey Frostick Chair person of Love Luton said "we have launched this campaign to address some of the challenges Luton faces in terms of a negative image, and in particular, to the outside world. The open your eyes initiative will begin with encouraging residents to get involved in taking pride in their environment and opening their eyes to the surroundings.”
Earlier this year, Luton Town FC added their name to a number of local organisations who contribute to 'Love Luton', an important organisation who work towards improving the image and perception of Luton.
Hatters chief executive Gary Sweet said "We're fully behind the 'Open Your Eyes' campaign and would encourage our supporters to get involved and lend a hand, not just on the 4th and 5th of March, but moving forwards too. Showing a pride in your town is something that comes naturally to Luton supporters. We're hoping that as many people as possible will join this campaign and help to bring people together in a positive way to help tidy up our town."
Love Luton will be working in partnership with Signposts, Luton Borough Council and the Luton Rotary Club over the 2 days. If you would like to get to involved please email coordinator@loveluton.org.uk
Each volunteer will receive a free 'Open Your Eyes' goodie bag.
Come on you Hatters!
