Boss has mixed emotions after 1-1 draw

Nathan Jones was disappointed that the Hatters couldn’t earn a first home win since November after being held to a 1-1 draw with Yeovil on Tuesday night.

The Town had a superb late volley from Alan Sheehan to thank to record a point after Liam Walsh had put the Glovers in front.

But the Hatters squandered a number of good opportunities even later in the game leaving the boss with mixed reactions afterwards.

“We had enough chances to win the game but it’s taken an absolute worldie to earn us a point,” Jones told our official YouTube channel

“I felt our all-round play was good but their goal has come from nothing which I’m gutted about because we could have done better. It was a typical scrappy League 2-type goal.

“I’m feeling quite emotional because our build-up play was excellent. We’re thinking ‘this is coming together now’ but our quality and decision making in the final third has got to be better.

“If we had won the game 1-0 I would have been pleased, but we’ve got to start keep clean sheets because I always believe we’ve got a goal in us with the players we’ve got.

“I’m just disappointed because the amount of times we got into a number of really fine areas but we didn’t find that final ball. There wasn’t enough chances put on a plate for people. We just didn’t use the possession we had well enough when we got into those good positions.

“But it’s something to build on, we were better again and it’s a little step.

“It was better than the weekend but we’ve really got to start showing more composure and quality in the final third and that’s why I’m disappointed.”
