Hatters boss wants Villa game to trigger home run

Nathan Jones says that Saturday’s League Two game against Yeovil and next Tuesday’s date with Newport are more important than tonight’s game against Aston Villa – but the Town boss wants to use it to trigger a run of “outstanding” home form.

Speaking to the media at Ely Way earlier this week, when asked about this EFL Cup First Round tie being a big game, Jones said: “It’s one of three, because we’ve got two big ones after that.

“This one is classed as a big, big game – but the other two are more important to us, if I’m honest with you.

“We take each game as it comes and we treat each game with the importance it deserves. We keep saying the fans are vital at Kenilworth Road and we need to improve our form there.

“This is a little bit of a distraction and a cup atmosphere with the night game and the TV, and so on, but we are looking forward to playing at home.

“I believe we can build a side that enjoys playing at home, and I want to start that, I really do, because our away form is outstanding and I want our home form to be outstanding. If we can get them both outstanding, then we’ll be outstanding.”
