Power Court and Newlands Park to feature as part of "Think Luton, Think Investment"

Luton Town Football Club as 2020 Developments will be taking part in Luton Borough Council’s “Think Luton, Think Investment” launch today at an exclusive event in St Pancras, London.

Chief Executive Gary Sweet will be one of six panel members promoting Luton as an aspirational and sound place to invest and will announce the Club’s intention to submit outline planning applications for a new stadium and a mixed use scheme at Power Court, as well as Newlands Park, a mixed use development at land owned by the Club at Junction 10.

Commenting on the event Gary Sweet said, “Not only do I feel privileged and proud to be able to have the opportunity to promote Luton as a great place to invest but, at least, it feels like a relocation for our football club could become a reality. Not just a relocation but one which will put us right at the heart of our community which will regenerate and revitalise a significant part of our town.”

Earlier this year, Luton Town announced the Power Court site as their preferred location for a new stadium, and today’s announcement lays out a timeline for planning permission. The Club are hoping that a response to the application will be received by the end of 2016.

Today’s event, which was organised and hosted by Luton Borough Council, was held to announce itself as a major player in the UK economy with the launch of an ambitious £1.5 billion inward investment programme.
