Hatters youngsters remain unbeaten

The Town Under-18s made it seven wins in eight games as they extended their unbeaten start to the season with a fine 3-0 victory over Leyton Orient.

Both sides came close in the first 15 minutes but the Town broke the deadlock when Freddie Hinds’ cross-cum-shot found the top corner on 20 minutes.

The Hatters and Hinds then doubled their tally when he raced onto a through ball to tuck home to make it 2-0 shortly before the half-hour.

George Murray hit the bar and Alex Atkinson struck the post as the Town ended the first half well in control.

After the break Murray was denied by the woodwork again but the Hatters did make it 3-0 when Kavan Cotter ran onto Kyran McGhan-George’s pass to slot home.

Delighted youth boss Paul Driver told lutontown.co.uk: “It was an excellent performance against the best team we have faced so far this season.

“It’s all well and good getting the results but it is important to play well and we are now getting results and performances together.

“The first 15 minutes could have gone either way but once we were ahead we looked really comfortable. I’m really, really pleased.”

Town: McDermott, Justin, Musonda, Famewo, McJannet, McGhan-George, Bakinson, Cotter, Atkinson, Murray, Hinds (sub Verney 60). Subs not used: Read, Petty, Bean, Lee.
