Defender aiming for third successive clean sheet tonight

Left-back Scott Griffiths is targeting a third consecutive clean sheet when the Town make the long journey to Morecambe on Tuesday night.

The defender helped the Hatters to a second win and shut out in succession during Saturday’s 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

“You know what, keeping a clean sheet is the most important thing for me because all you need is to score one goal to win,” the 29-year-old told Hatters Player.

“Clean sheets mean so much to me and the other defenders and the aim is to keeping doing that.”

Last season the Hatters fell to their heaviest defeat of the campaign at Morecambe, going down 3-0 at Christie Park in December.

And Griffiths knows the Town will be in for yet another tricky test against a Shrimps side occupying the final Play-Off place in League 2.

“They are always a good side and it will be a tough, hard game,” he said. “They are a strong side but we’ll be going there looking for a third win in a row, and we’ll do our best to keep another clean sheet, too. That’s what we’re aim for – we can’t aim for anything less, and I think that’s a good attitude for us to have.

“I wasn’t involved in the game last season but I remember watching it and thinking how much of a difficult game it was.

“But we’ll have to deal with the conditions better on Tuesday, and, hopefully, we can right the wrongs of last season.”
