Town boss looking forward to Kenilworth Road return
John Still is pleased that the Town return to Kenilworth Road to face York City on Saturday after clocking up over 1,000 miles in the past week.
The Hatters’ trips to Morecambe, Hartlepool and Gillingham saw Still’s side collect six points in League 2 and score an impressive eight goals.
And the boss is looking forward to a return home against the Minstermen as the Town go in search of a fifth straight league victory.
“It’s always good to come home after a lot of travelling,” Still said at his Thursday press conference. “To get Morecambe and Hartlepool – and Accrington earlier in the season – out of the way at this stage is pleasing if I’m being honest.
“You’re always happy when you’re winning games, regardless of if that’s at home or away, but with the amount of travelling we’ve done, to win the games we have and to score the amount we have, it couldn’t have been better for us.”
The Town take on the Minstermen aiming to end a run of eight matches without a win against Saturday’s visitors.
Still, however, knows it won’t be easy against a side who beat League 1 Doncaster in midweek.
“They do have some decent players and a lot of experienced ones,” said the manager. “I don’t think coming to Luton will faze them.
“I think the experience in their side will mean they will be quite up for it.
“Whoever you play, though, you need to be bang on it. Sometimes you only need two or three of your players to be off their game and for the other team to be on it for you to find it difficult.
“I think that’s the case at all levels. Ask Chelsea, look at Manchester United at Arsenal last week. You need to be bang on it.
“Some clubs come away to the so-called bigger teams and aren’t so adventurous – but we have players that can make a difference, players who can find a pass, find a cross or find a finish – and that does make a difference for us.”
