Eighth successive win for unbeaten Under-18s

The Town Under-18s continued their storming start to the season with a comfortable 4-1 win over Peterborough on Saturday morning to make it 13 games unbeaten.

Paul Driver’s side have now won 11 of their 12 Youth Alliance games, and against a struggling Posh side the Town were two goals to the good at the break.

The young Hatters went ahead on 25 minutes direct from a corner when Alex Atkinson’s inswinging left-wing flag-kick flew in to the net.

In control, the Town doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time when James Justin arrowed a low shot beyond the Posh keeper from the edge of the box.

And two became three in the first minute of the second half when Freddie Hinds scrambled home from close range following his initial run and shot.

Peterborough pulled a goal back on the hour, but the Town youngsters restored their three-goal cushion with 15 minutes left to play when Hinds grabbed his second when he lobbed home following a flick-on.

The victory, the Town's eighth successive win in all competitions, maintains the Hatters’ four-point lead at the top of the table.

Boss Driver told lutontown.co.uk: “It was a regulation victory and we did all the right things.

“We had to be patient, and we moved the ball much better than we have done in the past few weeks.

“Peterborough’s front two caused us a few problem which we dealt with well so overall I’m pleased.”

Town: Gooch, Bean, McJannet (sub Bakinson 84), Musonda, Famewo, McGhan-George, Atkinson (sub Cotter 46), Justin, Snelus, Murray (sub Verney 76) Hinds.

Sub not used: Petty.
