Midfielder eyeing FA Cup success

Alex Lawless is hoping last weekend’s win against Dagenham & Redbridge can help inspire the Hatters to an FA Cup victory against Crawley on Saturday.

The Hatters ended a run of four games without a win in League 2 on Sunday – a sequence that included a 2-1 defeat against the Red Devils at the Broadfield Stadium three weeks ago.

And Lawless, who was on target in the win over Dagenham last week, believes the Town have extra motivation for victory this weekend after that disappointing reverse at Crawley last month.

“It's quite a quick chance to go somewhere where we've just been and try to put it right,” Lawless told Hatters Player

“Although I didn't play, you're all a team and you don't like to see that happen. Things like that, when you're a player, they stick with you.

“We weren’t happy with the performance at Crawley and it’s quite a nice opportunity to get them back for it and get ourselves through in the Cup.

“It’s also a game that can help build confidence and momentum.”

Lawless made his 180th appearance in Town colours last weekend and was involved in the Hatters’ FA Cup run of 2013.

He played in the 1-0 win at Norwich in the fourth round and scored the winner against Wolves in the third round.

He added: “It's the type of competition that everyone loves playing in.

“I’m one of them where you know there are rewards if you get through the rounds.”
