Hatters Cup Youth Football Tournament played at Kenilworth Stadium on Sat 16th and Sun 17th May 2015

Once again, the main Club are turning the Kenilworth Road Stadium over to the Community Trust later this month and over 3 days we will be holding lots of community and charity events. The major event is our annual two day six a side Hatters Cup football tournament for local youngsters. This has now become the biggest tournament of its kind in the South of England and as usual we were massively over- subscribed within weeks of announcing the dates before Christmas. Once again, over 160 teams will take part in the tournament and that’s over 1,500 young players. The opportunity to play at Kenilworth Road is very exciting for all of the young players and we are grateful to our sponsors this year , local company County Kitchens inc Kitchens2Go ,who are big Hatters fans, and whose sponsorship helps us staffing and stewarding the Stadium.

K2GO Managing Director, Graham Bourne explains his reasons for sponsouring the tournament:

"Having been a fan of Luton Town FC  from the age of 6 and now at the ripe old age of 58, I can look back at many highs (and some lows), with fond memories. If I admit to crying, at Wembley, when we beat Arsenal in the League Cup in 1988, it would be understandable for a 6 year old, but I was actually 31 at the time. Let me tell you there were many tears of joy spilt that day, by thousands of supporters much older than me.

Luton Town FC is an extension of my family and to be fortunate enough to sponsor The Hatters Cup this year gives me a great sense of enjoyment and satisfaction. Kitchens2GO agreed to it, to support the community in which we live and in particular, to help the process of developing the stars of the future. The smiles on young players faces, the excitement of the occasion and the pride shown by parents and guardians, gives me a warm glow of pride in Luton Town FC and the Youth Development programme.

Kitchens2GO is a local kitchen manufacturing business with employees who have children participating in this tournament. For their sake and every other young player participating in the tournament, I wish them all a great weekend, one that they will remember with the same fondness that I have enjoyed, as a supporter, for most of my life.

I am sure they will have a great day and whether they win or lose, they will have contributed to a great event, bringing joy to everyone involved."

The stadium store will also be open from 9am – 6pm on both days and there will be a stall in the forecourt selling discounted junior Hatters gear.
