Two spot-kicks see off Pompey
Two first half penalties from Daril Ngwala gave the Hatters’ Under-18s their second successive victory with a 2-0 win over Portsmouth in the Youth Alliance.
The striker fired the Hatters ahead in the 25th minutes after he had been fouled in the penalty area.
And the youngster doubled his and the Town’s tally on 36 minutes when he slotted home the penalty after Isaac Galliford was felled in the 18-yard box.
The Hatters came close to going 3-0 up before half-time only for Leeroy Maguraushe to be denied by the Pompey goalkeeper.
After the break the Town were thwarted in their bid for a third, while goalkeeper Liam Gooch kept out Pompey with some comfortable saves from efforts from distance.
Boss Paul Driver told lutontown.co.uk: “It was another hugely encouraging display and a result which we really deserved.
“We were good value for our lead at half-time and in the second half after we couldn’t extend the lead they had chances to come back in to it but in the end were comfortable winners.”
