Hatters medical staff to assess skipper before County test
The Town will check on the fitness of captain Stephen McNulty ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Newport County in Sky Bet League 2.The Hatters skipper was substituted at half-time in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth having sustained two separate cuts, above and below his right eye.
"We'll assess him because he was having problems seeing on Saturday," boss John Still said at his pre-match press conference. "He has to head to the ball so we're conscious that we don't want to aggravate the problem."
The Town also look set to continue with midfielders Jonathan Smith and Nathan Doyle and goalkeeper Mark Tyler - all of who are sidelined with knee injuries.
Still said: "Smudge took a knock against Morecambe, it's nothing bad, but we gave him a rest on Saturday - if he wasn't back for Tuesday I'd be surprised if he wasn't available for the next game.
"Tyler is close but not that close, while Nathan is back in light training and we hope he can step that up a bit more this week."
Scott Griffiths requires a hernia operation and is only likely to play if necessary, while Elliot Lee is pushing for a start after improving his fitness.
