Striker and defender out for Sixfields trip

Injuries sustained in Tuesday's game against Wycombe have ruled out Elliot Lee and Fraser Franks for the Town's match at Northampton at the weekend.

Striker Lee, who scored twice against the Chairboys, picked up a knock to his hip and was substituted in the last 10 minutes of the 3-2 defeat. John Still expects the on-loan forward - who signed until the end of the season on Wednesday - to recover in time for the Easter period.

Franks meanwhile, who came off at half-time on Tuesday, could be sidelined for a month with an ankle injury.

There was some positive news from the manager's Thursday press conference, however, with Jonathan Smith in contention to make a return to action while fellow midfielder Nathan Doyle has trained all week and has an outside chance of being involved for the trip up the M1. Still admitted that Doyle ideally needs a development game first - and the Town have one such fixture next Tuesday against Portsmouth at Kenilworth Road.

In other injury news, Mark Tyler remains close to a return but is not yet fit to return so Elliot Justham will continue in goal. And Scott Griffiths remains out with a hernia, which is due to be operated on later next month. He will only be used if absolutely necessary.

Full video and quotes from the manager to come over Thursday and Friday on lutontown.co.uk, Hatters Player and YouTube.
